How to read this
The Community Risk Index is a composite signal, not a forecast. It draws on a continuous stream of ingest — open-source reporting, government data, extremist monitoring, and social intelligence — and compresses it into two outputs: a single index value and a breakdown by signal category.
The index reflects conditions today relative to a rolling baseline. A rising index means the overall threat signal is above recent norms. A static index, even at a moderate level, means conditions are elevated but not worsening. Category-level elevation indicates where the underlying pressure is concentrated.
The index measures the environment around Jewish institutional life in each metro it covers, aggregated and floored for privacy. It does not score any individual institution. Client-specific monitoring is available through Mitzpe’s Diaspora Security Practice .

What we monitor
Mitzpe ingests more than forty data sources on a daily cycle: law enforcement records, government advisory feeds, extremist monitoring organizations, legislative filings, federal enforcement databases, and social intelligence systems. We classify, deduplicate and weight every signal before scoring. Coverage runs to major US metro areas — the index resolves each incident to the nearest one and drops anything that falls outside, which is also the privacy floor. It reports aggregate community conditions, never the status of an identifiable organization.
